Addictions (Week 6/Day 38 [05/16/2007])

Probably something that all communities share is the terrible afflictions caused by addictions in people’s lives. One of the strongest tool the enemy has in his arsenal is getting people hooked to substances and activities that cause the greatest harm not only to themselves but also to others around them. The enemy convinces them that they need whatever it is they are addicted to and that they cannot survive without it. We must pray against this stronghold of the enemy. Particularly the stronghold of Crystal Meth that has invaded our community.

From the Word:

Proverbs 21:17
Galatians 5:19

Prayer Points:

  • Pray that God will grant wisdom, knowledge, and protection to those who are counseling and assisting people with addictions.
  • Pray that God will raise up Godly men and women to volunteer at organizations that help those with addictions.
  • Pray that this stronghold of the enemy will be broken and that the source of these addictions (particularly Crystal Meth) will dry up.
  • Pray that God will grant supernatural assistance to the Police Department as they battle the drug problem in our community.
  • Pray that those in the midst of addictions will have their eyes open to what they are doing to themselves and to the people around them and that they will reach out for help.

Take Action!

If you haven’t already, I strongly encourage you to read the excellent series, “Not My Kid: Crystal Meth in Your Community” that was published by our local paper. You can view the series here.

For Parents…

Look up addiction with your children in the dictionary. Ask them about what are some things that people get addicted to. For your older children – role play what to do if they are ever offered drugs.
