Future Leaders (Week 3/Day 21 [04/29/2007])
(For our internet guests, the following text is taken from the printed version of the Prayer Guide we are using for the 50 Days of Prayer and Fasting. Feel free to interact by leaving comments on this page!)
Many young people of today will be holding key positions in society, business, and the church. On one hand this generation possesses - in global comparison - a good framework of conditions to work with, on the other hand, they carry an enormous responsibility and pressure to perform. Let’s pray today for strong encouragement for the younger generation throughout congregations and churches! Our children and youth do not need another taskmaster, rather they need fathers and mothers to encourage them, to stand behind them, and who do not give up even when their children make mistakes and who do not push their responsibilities off on teachers and educators. Let’s pray that the future generation of leaders will be radically transformed by the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ and we will see a legacy of Godly change through their actions.
From the Word
1 Timothy 4:12
Kids and Teens who changed their world:
- Joseph (Genesis 37-47)
- David (1 Samuel 16-2
- Samuel 24)
- Daniel (Book of Daniel)
- Samuel (1 Samuel)
Think about it…
Take a few minutes and try to remember some of the challenges you faced growing up. Now think about the challenges facing some of the youth today. How do they compare?
Prayer Points:
- Pray for the younger generation - pray that they will have godly mentors.
- Pray that God will assist HPC in finding the right person to serve as the Pastor to the Youth and Children in our church and that God will use him/her to assist parents in raising up our future leaders.
- Pray that God will help parents fulfill their responsibilities in raising their children.
- Pray that as a church we will come alongside young Christians and encourage them.
- Pray that youth will have the courage to “swim against the stream” and a clear testimony for Jesus Christ
Take Action!
Take a moment to think up some ways you can be an encouragement to the youth in our church and in our community. Make copies of that list and post it in places that you will see it - so that you can act on the things that God gives you opportunities to act on.
