Hanover Hotspots (Week 6/Day 36 [05/14/2007])
(For our internet guests, the following text is taken from the printed version of the Prayer Guide we are using for the 50 Days of Prayer and Fasting. Feel free to interact by leaving comments on this page!)
Every community has its different issues and difficulties that it deals with. Hanover is no exception. During this week we want to take some time to focus on some of the major issues in our community, or “hotspots” as we’ll call them. As you pray for these different things in our community ask God to guide you in how you should pray. The Holy Spirit knows way more than what is ever recorded or reported on. His insight will give direction and power to what we pray. As Jesus taught, we want to pray that God’s will be done on earth, as it is in heaven!
From the Word:
Colossians 1:9-14
Matthew 6:9-13
Think about it…
Have you given any consideration to what may be some “hotspots” in our community?
Jesus urged us to pray that God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Why do you think Jesus taught that?
Prayer Points:
- As we go through this week in prayer for our community that the Holy Spirit will give us insight into how to pray specifically in each of these circumstances.
- Pray that if there are any other “hotspots” that we should be praying for that God will direct us to that.
- Pray for God’s protection as we undertake this spiritual battle for our community.
Take Action!
A good way to keep in touch with some of the issues our community faces is to read the local newspaper or even read the minutes from council meetings which can be insightful. Did you know you can access the Town of Hanover’s Council and committee minutes online? Go to http://www.hanover. ca/siteengine/activepage. asp?PageID=53
For Parents:
Ask your children what they think are some of the big things our town has to take care of. Ask them if they can think of any big problems in our community. Make a list together and you just might be surprised with what your kids come up with…take some time to pray over that list together as a family.
