Scripture teaches clearly that God works out His dreams through people. He very often gives components or specific ideas/visions to individuals who will then either run with it or run away from it. Maybe some of you have a dream that God has given you that you have been running away from. Maybe some of you reading this have never really spent time thinking about or praying about what God’s dream for you might be.

Wherever you are, spend some time today asking the Holy Spirit what His dream is for you and how you fit into His dream for your community.

Think about it…

Most of us are familiar with the story of Joseph in the Bible. The awesome thing about Joseph’s story is that He never gave up on His dream and always remained faithful to God. Eventually His dream did come to pass. But notice, the dream God gave Joseph was instrumental in God’s dream for Egypt and Joseph’s family. Joseph’s story is but a part of the bigger story of the preservation of God’s people through the years of famine. What other things can you learn from Joseph’s story about the significance of when God gives dreams to individuals?

Prayer Points:

• Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you God’s dreams for you
• Ask that God will give you wisdom in carrying out His dream.
• Ask the Holy Spirit to give you patience for the timing in the realization of God’s dream.
• If you’ve been running away from God’s dream for your life – repent of that and pray for faith to believe and courage to act on God’s dream for you.

Take Action!

Have you recorded anything in your “dream journal” yet? Hopefully today there will be some entries. If you think God is revealing something to you it’s a good idea to share it with a trusted friend and ask them to pray that God will show you how to live out that dream and that He will confirm that it is indeed His dream for you.

For Parents…

Read the story of Joseph to your children. Ask your children if there’s any dreams that they believe God has given to them. Pray together that His dreams for them would come to pass in His timing and in His perfect plan.
