Hospital on Wheels (Week 4/Day 27 [05/05/2007])

(For our internet guests, the following text is taken from the printed version of the Prayer Guide we are using for the 50 Days of Prayer and Fasting. Feel free to interact by leaving comments on this page!)

Whenever I hear an ambulance or see it’s flashing lights as it flies by responding to a distress call I wonder where they are going and what they’ll find when they get there. I will sometimes say a little prayer for the people in the situation that required the ambulance to come and then for the EMT workers as well. Between the scene of the medical emergency and the hospital it is attendants in the ambulance who keep the patient alive. They, also, have a high calling. It is the EMTs who often give the initial counsel to concerned loved ones who ride along in the ambulance.

From the Word:

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalms 73:26 (NIV)

Prayer Points:

  • Pray today’s scripture for the EMT workers in our community
  • Pray for wisdom in the split-second decisions they make on every call
  • Pray that their equipment will work the way it’s supposed to and that they will continue to receive equipment they need to do their job.
  • Pray that God’s protection will be with them against disease/ infections they may encounter.
  • Pray for the EMTs that don’t know Jesus as Lord that they will receive Him.

Take Action!

When you see an ambulance go by take time to pray for the workers in the ambulance and pray for the person(s) they are going to attend to.
