Naturally… (Week 6/Day 42 [05/20/2007])

A hot topic in today’s society involves the color green and the word environment. Without getting into the debate I think it’s important that we do acknowledge that there is a responsibility for Christians to care for the planet God has blessed us with. We don’t want to cross the line into “Mother Earth’ worship but we also don’t want to be frivolous and wasteful of the resources God has given us. One of the major problems of any society is what to do with the waste we do generate. The Landfill site that Hanover and Brockton share is due to reach the end of its life expectancy in the summer of 2010. The two councils have taken steps to plan for what to do when this happens and a environmental assessment is currently being undertaken that will take 12-15 months to complete. The current plan is that the landfill will be expanded northward of its current site and more pro-active actions will be taken in recycling programs and banning of “e-waste” (batteries, electronics etc.).

From the Word…

Genesis 1:26-28
Psalm 8:4-9
Psalm 115:16

Think about it…

Have you ever thought what your responsibility is to the environment that God created for us? Where do you think an “environmentalist” crosses the line in their concern for the environment or is it possible to cross the line?

Prayer Points:

  • Pray that God’s wisdom will be upon our Town planners as they prepare for the necessary landfill space/requirements.
  • Pray for God’s wisdom in you and your family in making good use of what he’s blessed you with.

Take Action!

Do a neighborhood/street walk with a garbage bag with your family and pick up any stray garbage you
