That None Would Perish… (Week 7/Day 45 [05/23/2007]
Probably one of the no-brainers when it comes to thinking about what God desires for our community is that people would come to Him and receive salvation - that the lost would be found. Probably the biggest hurdle to that dream being realized is that most people in our affluent society don’t even think they need God. A repeated focus of prayer throughout this 50 Days of Prayer and Fasting is for the salvation of unbelievers - that those who don’t know God would turn to Him. That indeed should be a focus everyday when we start the day. Today, let’s zero in on the indifference many people have to the things of God and that those who need Him will become aware of their need.
From the Word:
2 Peter 3:9
2 Corinthians 4:4
Think about it…
In reading the context of 2 Peter 3:9 – what promise is it that God is “slow in keeping”?
What are some of the ways that you think the enemy “blinds the minds of unbelievers?”
Prayer Points:
- Ask God what part you can play in fulfilling His dream that “none would perish” in our community.
- Pray through the list of ways that you believe the enemy “blinds the minds of unbelievers” and pray that the light of the gospel will penetrate their hearts.
- Pick three people that you think are not believers and pray specifically for their salvation.
Take Action!
In your “dream journal” write the three people that you prayed for. Know that it is God’s dream that they will know Him. Whenever you think of one of these individuals pray for their salvation. Ask God to give you opportunities to talk about Him with them.
For parents…
Have your children think of one friend that they’d like to pray will come to know God. Pray with them for their friend. If your children are keeping a “dream journal” have them write their friends name in it.
