Today’s children and youth are tomorrows leaders, They will either change the world or plunge it into chaos. A sobering thought is that the world we live in is continuing to embrace and promote worldviews that are contrary to the Word of God and are recipes for disaster. There is a whole generation of kids that are growing up in a society that increasingly rejects much of the ethical and moral fabric that guided the formation of everything good in our society. There used to be a day where you could walk into a school and it would be odd if a child didn’t know a Bible story or two. Now it’s considered odd (and even “offensive”) to pray the Lord’s Prayer in their schools. What’s more alarming is the incredible pressures, stresses, and challenges that today’s generation face that compound the effects of having no truth to guide them. This week we are focusing on praying for our children and our youth. Now, more than ever, this generation needs a spiritual awakening. One that I believe is in the beginning stages. Youth today are definitely more interested in spiritual things. Let’s pray that they will be ignited by the Fire of God and revolutionize their world!

Prayer Points:

• Pray that Holy Spirit will stir up a Holy hunger among the youth and children of our town for more of God.
• Pray that God will give us his heart for the youth and children in our community.
• Ask the Holy Spirit for specific children/youth He wants you to be lifting up in prayer.

For Parents…

Share with your children some stories of “young people” God used in the Bible through this week. Here’s some suggestions:

• Joseph (Gen. 37-47)
• King Joash (seven years old when he began to reign! 2 Kings 11:21)
• The Boy with the Loaves and Fishes (John 6:5-9)
