About HPC

Hanover Pentecostal Church started as a home service in the early 1960’s when a small group of Christians got together to meet and pray for their town of Hanover. They believed that it was God’s plan for them to plant a church in our community. (Read the full story here).

Over the years HPC has been through many ups and downs but the vision and motivation of that original core of people has continued to persist and expand as God grew this body of believers. The pastor’s and members of HPC today have a vibrant vision of HPC being a “City on a Hill” - a group of people saved by grace, filled with purpose, and active in loving our community and each other in the unique and creative ways God directs us as we join Him in His plan.

We believe this vision isn’t just for our neighborhood but is also for all of Canada and into the world. We have adopted Gord and Anita Cooledge and children as our missionary family. They are currently serving as missionaries in Harare, Zimbabwe Africa and direct the “Village of Hope”. In summer 2007 we’ll be sending out our first Short Term Missions team from HPC to help in the construction of some buildings there.

HPC is an autonomous, self-governing local church established on the pattern of the New Testament early church. Using the book of Acts as a model, the church is structured with local ordained pastors (Learn more about our staff) as well as the assistance of a selected group of deacons. We are also affiliated with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada (PAOC) which is really a partnership that enables us to share in the resources of a much larger family of churches for the purpose of training, fellowship, accountability, and joint mission as we seek to share the Good News of Christ worldwide.

Hanover Pentecostal Church is known for it’s family atmosphere, spirit-and-truth worship, generosity to those in need, truth-to-heart preaching, trust in God, and Holy Spirit gifted ministry. HPC truly believes that we are ordinary people who are part of an extraordinary plan!
