Our Story

The Story of HPC’s Beginning…

Hanover Pentecostal Church started as a home service in the early 1960’s when a small group of Christians got together to meet and pray for their town of Hanover. They believed that it was God’s plan for them to plant a church in our community. The early church next moved to an upstairs hall on 10th Avenue. A little later a home was purchased at 299 7th Avenue which served as a Coffee House, Church and Sunday School. Records start for this assembly in March 23, 1968.A recent picture of HPC

This house church served as the home of “Calvary Full Gospel Church” for 6 more years until the present location was purchased in 1974. In the ensuing years there have been many major renovations to this location with the most recent being completed in 1990.

A survey of our church history reveals a church that has had many up and downs but also a church that has experienced the faithfulness of God. This is a church exhibits it’s faith not only word but also in action.

Some of the significant activities the people of HPC have been involved in

  • support of the ministry to the province of Quebec with a gift of $10,000 towards the establishment of the PAOC district of Quebec. (1999-2000)
  • Benefit concert to help a local family with a daughter suffering from Leukemia (not members of HPC) (1998)
  • Family Day Event (annual since 2001) - Family Day is held in the summer and it is basically a fun day HPC puts on for families in the community of Hanover.
  • Launching of our Building Project (2003).
  • One of a Kind Auction (2005) - Proceeds went towards our Building Project and also to a family in need in our community.
  • Numerous work projects throughout the years helping out families inside and outside the church.
  • Adoption of the Cooledge family as our missionaries (2006) - The Cooledges minister in Zimbabwe, Africa and are directors of the “Village of Hope” there. Currently we support them with a regular monthly offering and prayer. As well, we are planning our first Short Term Missions trip from HPC in 2007 that will take 8 men to Harare, Zimbabwe where we will assist the Colledge’s in construction of various buildings for their ministry.
