Book Review: Race against Time by Stephen Lewis

I just finished reading "Race Against Time" by Stephen Lewis. The following is my review of the book: Stephen Lewis has written a very insightful look into the tragedy of the worlds lackluster response to the Millennium Development Goals as put forth by United Nations decree. Due to his eyewitness experiences from being an insider with the United Nations over the past number of years and his many trips and interactions with Africa, Lewis is certainly equipped to make the powerful statements he makes in this book. Stephen Lewis is clearly a man Read rest of post...

The Ten Commandments of Purity

I came across these recently, good stuff for a husband and wife to look over ;) ! 1. I shall have no other human relationships before my spouse, including the kids. 2. Remember the date night and keep it holy. 3. Honor your spouse on anniversaries and special days so that you may live long in the land the Lord has given you. 4. I shall not take the covenant of marriage in vain by apathy. 5. Read rest of post...

Choosing Blasphemy?

I recently came across this article in Newsweek (January 8, 2007, Jerry Adler) - here’s an excerpt, ‘Hi my name is Lindy and I deny the existence of the Holy Spirit and you should too.’ With that five-second submission to YouTube, a 24-year-old who uses the name “menotsimple” has either condemned herself to an eternity of [...]

What Happens When Children Lead - Christianity.ca

Reading the article, What Happens When Children Lead by Patrice Wheeler was exciting for me because it matches the desire I have for children in my own church (and of course my own kids).  Patrice writes about taking some children from the children’s ministry at her church (Scarborough Gospel Temple) on a Short Term Missions [...]

To spank or not to spank?

I came across this interesting article by Peter C. Glover called Child Discipline and the Limits of the Civil Law. In the article Peter addresses the topic of when civil laws begin to dictate the limits of discipline allowable by parents on their children (i.e. spanking) what the appropriate response of parents should be.  I [...]

Is death really the end of life?

Seeing death as the end of life is like seeing the horizon as the end of the ocean. - David Searls

Unexpected Happenings….Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Folks! It's hard to believe yet another whole year has gone by. I hope you and your family have a blessed holiday season and are able to enjoy the many blessings God has given you. The following is the letter I wrote to my church family as part of my annual Christmas greetings. I've decided to post it here also: If there’s one thing that stands out about the birth of Christ, it is that the whole account reaffirms the observation that when God does things, He doesn’t do them in the way we humans would Read rest of post...

Book Review: The Road to Reality

The Road to Reality Rating: 4 out of 5 Author: K. P. Yohannan Year: 1988 Publisher: Creation House ISBN: 0884192504 Now this was a challenging read! K.P. Yohannan has a message that the Western Church definitely needs to hear and heed. In the book, K.P. addresses the artificial Christianity that many people in western society practice as a result of "real Christianity" being diluted by the materialism, consumerism, and selfish pursuits so evident in our culture. I agree with many Read rest of post...
