Zimbabwe 2007 Announcements
Village of Hope Website launched
I'm pleased to announce the launch of the website for the Village of Hope in Zimbabwe. Our church is partners with the work being done in Zimbabwe and Pastor Darren donated his skills as a web developer to design and host their website. This will provide a new tool for Gord and Anita Cooledge to promote the Village of Hope and communicate with current and potential supporters about what's happening at the Village. Check it out at vohzimbabwe.com!
Zimbabwe 2007 - What’s Next?
At Hanover Pentecostal Church on Sunday September 16th @ 10:30am the guys from the Zimbabwe 2007 team will be making a presentation about the Zimbabwe 2007 Project. We invite all those who supported us and who have been following the project's progress to come and hear about our experiences there. We will be sharing pictures, video, and stories that will give you insight into the blessings that we were able to pass on while there and the changes this trip worked in our lives. We will also be sharing about what's next as we talk about our continuing involvement with Read rest of post...
Crisis in Zimbabwe
CNN reports on the worsening economic crisis in Zimbabwe. Inflation is officially pegged at 4500% by the Zimbabwe government but outside sources put it closer to double that. After being in Zimbabwe I certainly believe it's the latter. Keep praying for the country...things are getting worse every day.
Zimbabwe Inflation out of control
Just came across an article at CBC that pegs the Zimbabwe inflation rate at over 3,500%! We need to keep in prayer for the economic status of this country and the incredible hardship it creates for the people.
Fill the Bags (Village of Hope Needs List for Zimbabwe 2007)
As part of our arrangements with British Airways, the Zimbabwe 2007 team is able to pack two extra bags per team member and each bag can weigh 50lbs. This means we can take an extra 400lbs of stuff with us when we go to Zimbabwe! This is a blessing because the cost to ship things to Zimbabwe is fairly expensive. We'd like to make the best use of this opportunity as possible and so we've collaborated with the Directors of the Village of Hope, Gord and Anita Cooledge, to come up with a list of items that could be used Read rest of post...

Interviewed by A-Channel
Barry, James, and I (Pastor Darren) were interviewed by Mike Lorentz, a reporter from A-Channel today. Every time we're interviewed by media about Zimbabwe 2007 it is a chance for me to think again and verbalize why it is we're going. We truly are grateful for the opportunities to talk about the Zimbabwe Project!
Added a video about Zimbabwe 2007
A video explaining the Zimbabwe 2007 project and it's motivation has been added to the Zimbabwe 2007 Page.
More promotion, interviews happening
Barry Mutrie was interviewed on the CFOS, "A New Day" radio program. Pastor Darren was interviewed by Persona News Channel Six (Hanover Cable). Pastor Darren and James Giles were interviewed on the Roger's Cable show called "Faith Works".
Thanks for your prayers folks - much of the promotion we are getting has been unsolicited so we know God is answering prayer! It's great to see the word getting out about the Zimbabwe 2007 project!
More information about Zimbabwe
Here's a good background article on Zimbabwe by the CBC that provides a glimpse into the country our team is headed. Sounds "safe"! However, we know that where God leads us, he will provide and protect.
Go here for the article "INDEPTH: ZIMBABWE - A country in turmoil March 30, 2005"
CBC has other articles on more recent happenings in Zimbabwe.
It should be made clear that our team is going on a humanitarian mission and is not participating in any political activity. We are going simply to assist the Cooledge's and the work of the Village of Hope Read rest of post...
